The Great Desire of God and the Power of Testimony in the Christian Life

God’s greatest desire is that all people, everywhere, recognize His love, accept His transforming grace, and be saved for His Kingdom. His primary concern is our redemption. His love is limitless, His mercy is infinite, and His compassion is unparalleled. Unlike pagan gods that demanded human sacrifices, God made the greatest sacrifice for us. Even though we long for salvation, God's desire to save us is even greater. As the Scripture affirms: "For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth." (1 Timothy 2:3-4).

The Power of Testimony in the Christian Life

Testifying is about Jesus. It is about what He has done for us, how He transformed our lives, and the marvelous truths of His Word that reveal His character. When we understand the greatness of His love and experience His grace, we can’t keep that to ourselves. By sharing our faith, we participate in the heavenly joy of seeing lives rescued and restored by His love.

Daily, God creates opportunities for people to know Him. He works through the Holy Spirit, reveals Himself in the beauty of creation, and shows His love through the events and circumstances of our lives. The clearest expression of this love, however, is found in the life and ministry of Jesus Christ. When we share the story of Jesus, we give people the best opportunity to know salvation.

James reminds us: "Let him know, that he which converteth the sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from death, and shall hide a multitude of sins." (James 5:20). The Apostle Paul reinforces this idea by stating that everyone must hear about Christ in order to believe (Romans 10:13-14). We are God's instruments to bring the Gospel to those who do not yet know Him.

What Brings Joy to the Heart of God?

If we asked God how His day went, He might respond by saying that He wept over the suffering of hungry children, helpless homeless people, and victims of injustice. However, there is also something that brings joy to His heart: the redemption of every person. Heaven rejoices when a sinner is saved, and we can share in that joy by spreading the good news of salvation.

The Dead Sea, due to its high salinity, has no life. Similarly, if God's grace does not flow from us to others, our spiritual lives will become stagnant. We grow spiritually when we share our faith and testify to the love of Christ in our lives. Keeping our faith to ourselves is selfishness, while sharing it makes us truly alive in Christ.

Obeying the Call of Christ

Being faithful to Christ means committing ourselves to His mission. He desires that "Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth." (1 Timothy 2:4). As followers of Christ, we are called to testify of His love and His grace.

Our greatest motivation for testifying should be love. As Paul said, "For the love of Christ constraineth us" (2 Corinthians 5:14). This love drives us to share the plan of salvation without fear or hesitation. When we understand the depth of Christ’s sacrifice, we are transformed by His love and feel the desire to share it with the world.

Testifying is not just a responsibility, but a privilege and a response to the immense love of God for us. May we live out this calling every day!
